Prize-Giving Sept 2008 Mrs Mann presented a cheque for £1,126 to Mrs Peggy Walpole, Head of Paddock School. This sum was the amount raised in the exercise-athon at the end of the summer term.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospice The school’s Ginn reading scheme (which was replaced by the Rigby Star scheme) was gratefully received by the Shooting Star Hospice.
Wimbledon Guild Harvest Festival was held on Monday 29th September and the Wimbledon Guild was delighted to receive our donated food items. These items will be distributed amongst those in need in the Wimbledon area.
Jeans for Genes Day On Friday 3rd October pupils and staff wore jeans to school and donated £1 for the privilege! A total of £399.50 was raised for this worthy cause.
The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal This year’s total raised was £105.31. FoPPS kindly donated £36.85 which was the money raised from the pain au chocolat and croissant sale on Friday 7th November.
Macmillan Cancer Support Year 9 raised £65 for Macmillan by holding a cake sale on Friday, 12th December.
Lower School Christmas Raffle for The Browns School Thanks to the generosity of parents and staff, the amount raised for The Browns School this Christmas was £437. This will cover the fees for one pupil, Kshitish Haridutt, for the coming year under the Putney Park Bursary.
The Paddock School Performance of Macbeth On Friday 6th February a group of pupils from The Paddock School performed an abridged version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth (20 minutes) to pupils in our school hall. The enthusiastic performance was thoroughly enjoyed by both actors and audience a like.
Red Nose Day On Friday 13th March pupils dressed up in ‘spots and/or stripes’. Some of the Upper School teachers were persuaded to wear school uniform. Year 10 organised a cake sale at morning break. No.11 garden was transformed into a fair-ground at lunchtime with Upper School pupils manning stalls such as Name the Bear, Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar, White Elephant Stall and Throw a Sponge at The Teacher! (a huge thank you to Messrs Bainbridge, Gibson, Hewitt and Sargeant for being such good sports)! A total of £748.54 was raised and everyone had great fun in supporting this event.RNLI This year, the school raised £45.30 for this very worthy cause. Thank you to FOPPS for donating proceeds from the croissant and pain au chocolate sale on Friday 8th May. The RNLI has advised that ‘over the past 23 years Putney Park has raised £2295.61, a marvellous amount – congratulations from all of us at Head Office’
Cottesmore Swimarathon – 12th May 2009 Thank you to for all parents and sponsors of our swimmers at this event. £523 was raised for the charity, CHASE . Sponsored Maths Challenge – 25th June 2009 The Mathematics Department hosted a special event in aid of The Paddock School. Congratulations to all the pupils who took part and our thanks to all those who sponsored the event, including a team from The Paddock School! The current amount raised is £851. Matchbox Competition – 26th June 2009 Pupils in Reception, Years 1 and 2 were invited to see how many items they could fit into a matchbox. The winner was Andre (Year 1) with 55 items. £126 was raised to be split between Greenmead and Paddock School.
