Our instructors this year were Lorenzo, Christian and Max and after an initial assessment the girls were divided into groups. There was a certain reluctance and fear of the unknown for Max’s group but he soon had them off the nursery slopes and onto the higher pistes. The intermediate group with Christian, skied with increasing confidence and the advanced group, with Lorenzo started with determination and enjoyed the challenges of the upper slopes. At the end of the week, all the girls took part in races down the same course and everyone should be congratulated on completing it without falling over! Our medals winners were Jemma, Rebecca, Heloise, Flora, Micah, Ellen, Reina, Catalina and Alex - and great praise to all skiers for looking so proficient and capable as they took part in the competition.
After our days on the snow, we welcomed the hotel’s hospitality and enjoyed a number of evening activities including Quiz Night, Movie Night and our Pizza Night at a local ‘ristorante’, The Edelweiss (!). As ever, The Hotel Regina looked after us extremely well.
Many thanks to all the girls, who behaved brilliantly and who were a great advertisement for Putney Park School. Thank you also to Mrs Keville and Mrs Haynes for their unstinting help and support.
We have decided to return to Piancavallo in 2010. It is a great week and a wonderful opportunity for the girls to experience life in a different country, spend time away from home with friends and, of course, take part in an excellent outdoor activity.
