2009 Magazine Report – Careers

Careers: 2008-2009

The Careers programme of events started in September with The Year 10 Sixth Form Evening. It seems the girls are only starting Year 10 and I am asking them to think about Sixth Form. However from past experience I know that you cannot begin soon enough.

Once again the school is offering COA (Cambridge Occupational Analysts) Preview programme. This enables the girls to make suitable choices at AS/A Level subjects.

In February it was the Year 9 GCSE Options Evening. Parents and pupils had the opportunity to listen to teachers speak about their subjects, especially those that have new syllabi starting in September and to answer any related queries or questions.

The Year 10 girls also had informal talks with the Heads of some of our local sixth forms:

Suzanne Fearon Putney High School
Chris McIver Tiffin Girls’ School

The Year 11 girls had a talk “Preparing yourself for interview – what to wear” from Lisa Butcher who also gave the girls free samples of make-up to take away and experiment with. How lucky they are!! They also had a talk from one of our local curates who gave them a spiritual insight into life.

It is always good to hear news from past pupils:

Natalie Watson has qualified as a Doctor and will begin her F1 year at St Helier’s Hospital.
