Lower School Sports Day
After several weeks of busy preparation Sports Day was finally here! All the children in the Junior School were very excited and delighted that this was THE day! Arriving with their parents, they were taken to their class meeting points and were able to sit by the track and opposite the spectators. It was easy to see which team they were in by their coloured T-shirts. They were all extremely enthusiastic during the ‘Wake up, shake up, warm up’ – and loved the musical accompaniment!
The races got under way and thank you to Mr. Cornelius for being our starter. Red, blue and green teams participated with continuing determination. The crowd cheered, the pressure mounted! The competitors raced with their all and it was going to be a very close result. Everyone deserved their medal after the last relay. The final overall winners were the Green team, with the Blue team second and the Red team third.
The parents treated us all to an excellent display of their athletic prowess! The mothers took part in their Bean Bag race amid much laughter. However, the fathers took things a great deal more seriously. The competitive spirit was very evident – fortunately the competitors were in sacks!
Well done to everyone who took part and to class teachers for organising and looking after their mini-athletes! Thank you to Mr. Cowell for marshalling the teams to the start, to Miss Parker for recording all the results, to Mrs. Mottram for the wonderful commentary, to the Year 10 helpers who did a great job of helping and supporting and to everyone involved - making the morning such an enjoyable one!
