Upper School - Art

In the light spacious environment of the Art Room and the gardens which surround the school buildings, pupils develop their creative potential in a variety of materials. Through Key Stage 3, all pupils are encouraged to use their sketchpads to practise their drawing skills in their homework and to research the work of artists from different times and cultures working towards G.C.S.E. Level and more recently to I.G.C.S.E. level.
Visits are arranged to many of the wonderful London based, galleries and museums to experience, at first hand, original works of Art and Design. Information gathered at the various venues is then used as a basis for practical studies.
A favourite time of the year for the pupils is when they are involved in supporting the Drama department by creating programmes, props and scenery for the School production and supporting the parents group F.O.P.P.S. who use their art work in a variety of fundraising events.
The school takes great pride in the creative work produced and those girls who choose the subject at G.C.S.E. level enjoy showing the results of their hard work at the annual examination Art Exhibition. At the annual Prize giving it is rewarding to congratulate the pupils on their excellent achievement in this subject.
